NOVAX Brings 42 Used IBC Containers to Taiwan Design Expo 2026
From Industrial Containers to Illuminated Display Platforms
The Taiwan Design Expo 2026 – “Taoyuan in FLOW” is taking place in Taoyuan from September 24 to October 11. As part of Area A6, “Sustainable Flow – Tao〇 Project: Future Circular Park,” NOVAX Material & Technology Inc. is providing 42 used IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) containers at no cost, giving familiar industrial containers an entirely different role in an exhibition space.
IBC containers are commonly used in industry for transportation, storage, and handling. But at this exhibition, they have taken on a surprisingly different identity.
They are stacked, illuminated, and transformed into display platforms.
Once brought into the exhibition space, the translucent IBC containers are illuminated from within, creating a soft glow while supporting displays and becoming an integral part of the spatial experience.

What Else Can an IBC Be?
The exhibition area is designed by the Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI) and Üroborus Studiolab, with a focus on Taoyuan’s local industries, design innovation, and circular practices. Through the themes of “Life Cycle” and “Industrial Cycle,” the exhibition explores material innovation, green manufacturing, and circular technologies.
For NOVAX, the most interesting part of this collaboration is seeing IBC containers outside their usual industrial environment.
An object originally designed for transportation and storage can, through a different arrangement and a little imagination, become a display platform, a spatial element, or even part of the lighting experience.
The material stays the same. What changes is how we use it.
NOVAX Chairman shared:
“IBC containers are something we know very well from our daily industrial operations. Seeing them enter an exhibition space, illuminated and transformed into platforms for displaying design, made us look at a familiar material in a completely different way.
I believe circularity does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes, it simply starts by asking one more question: Where does this object go after its original use? Can it still be used again? If the answer is yes, then let it continue creating value.
Seeing these 42 IBC containers move from an industrial setting into a design exhibition is genuinely interesting. It shows that circularity can be practical, intuitive, and even fun.”
The exhibition also presents material transformation through a “Before → After” concept. In their own way, the 42 IBC containers tell a similar story—from industrial containers to exhibition elements, and then into continued reuse.
NOVAX continues to explore circular applications for IBC containers and other industrial resources, working across industries to discover unexpected possibilities for materials beyond their original environments.
Perhaps the first step toward circularity is not changing the material, but imagining what else it can become.
